Note that the openGD77.com site to avoid hackers, has no index tree so all pages have to be reference explicitly with there individula URL's.
As at October 2025 the best sources, I have found are:This documentation appears up-to-date and links I have tested all work. It is a good place to start. https://github.com/LibreDMR/OpenGD77_UserGuide/blob/master/OpenGD77_User_Guide.md?ref=farewell-ladmin.com
This forum is difficult tp navigate while it contains helpfull informatio from users. The informatiopn is not always accurate. https://www.opengd77.com/archive/ The Documation above is prefered.

This file has to be extracted from the official Radioddity firmware archive to validate the AMBE Licence, 2021-01-26 GD-77 CPS & Firmware Changelog - Ham Version.zip This archive has to be unzipped and the file "GD-77_V4.3.6.sgl" extracted to a known location for loading by the CPS.
Download the firmware here: https://www.opengd77.com/downloads/GD77/Firmware/3ed4d3301fb6fb8c539d17a10ee36c6026206b9a/OpenGD77.zip Check here for the latest version: https://www.opengd77.com/downloads/GD77/Firmware/3ed4d3301fb6fb8c539d17a10ee36c6026206b9a/
This CSV file is wotldwide database in CSV format with about 292030 ID's. It must be reconfigured into four columns to be complient to load using the CPS. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ContactLists/NORMAL-ContactLists/master/RADIODDITY/GD77/GD77_WW_default.csv The easier option os to use the download facility in the CPS menu selection: "Extras --> Download Callsign Database".
Note that the OpenGD77 firmware is loaded using the CPS application as detailed below.
This procedure is valid for all the supported transceivers, regardless of the brand and model.
Firmware loading Procdure:
OpenGD77 Firmware is available here:
https://www.opengd77.com/downloads/releases/MK22/.
Navigate to folder with latest date -> Firmware -> OpenGD77.bin.
https://www.opengd77.com/downloads/MDUV380_DM1701/Firmware/2dc33f6bcb4936c047a4f65ef3daf80f95ffbc0e/
Install the latest CPS, available at
https://www.opengd77.com/downloads/PC_CPS/Latest/OpenGD77CPSInstaller_R2025.03.23.01.exe
The "Firmware Installation Instruction" button leads to a dead 404 link.
GD-77_V4.3.6.sgl is rquired as a donor file. It had to be present but is not loaded to the radio. You simply need to
have it available on your computer for use by the firmware loader. Once you register it's presence it will not be used.
Download the Radioditty official firmware (GD-77 Firmware V4.3.6 [Ham Version). It MUST be version V4.3.6.
This is not available from the www.opengd77.com site
By searching I got an random copy here:
https://github.com/JZ10EGG/CPS_OpenGD77/blob/main/GD-77_V4.3.6.sgl
The more secure way would be to get the distribution from Radioddity.
https://www.radioddity.com/pages/radioddity-download. It downloads as an .exe file and has to be installed
to extract the GD-77_V4.3.6.sgl file.
The direct download link is:
https://radioddity.s3.amazonaws.com/2021-01-26%20GD-77%20CPS%20%26%20Firmware%20Changelog%20-%20Ham%20Version.zip
If you downloaded the exe unzip the downloaded zip archive and make a note of the location. The requied file, GD-77_V4.3.6.sgl,
is located in "Firmware software V4.3.6" sub-directory.
This file should remain in the same location, if it is be re-used the next time you will flash another OpenGD77 firmware file.
In "Firmware loader" screen select the "Select the Official (donor) firmware" button A file selection window will pop-up. Go to the location where you saved the GD-77_V4.3.6.sgl file, select it, click the "Open" button. The software will check the SGL file validity, a "[+DMR]" text is now displayed in the Firmware Loader window title.
Turn on your transceiver in bootloader mode by pressing SK1 + SK2 while powering on. ON the GD77 there are the two buttons under the PTT button. The Green led lit up, the screen remains off (or black). Select the correct radio model. Now click on the "Select a File & Update" button,
A file selection window will pop-up, go and select the OpenGD77 firmware you want to flash (a .bin file). The flashing procedure will start right after the OpenGD77 firmware file is selected.
Note that this is based on the 2025 CPS and associated firmware.
Building a configuration (Code Plug) to suit local requirement is a daunting task. OpenGD77 2025 version
has provided a folder centric CSV facility. What ever is in the nominated CSV folder is either Loaded replaceing
all data or, in append mode, it is added. This allow eficient editing but there are pitfalls to watch out for.
Frequent, versioned, backup saves are essencial.
