- Vocoder is a portmanteau of voice and encoder. A vobcoder is a category of speech coding
that analyzes and synthesizes the human voice signal for audio data compression,
multiplexing, voice encryption or voice transformation.
- DMR employes the AMBE2+ vocoder, which allows audio to pass through a more compressed
bitstream and provides two TDMA voice channels in the same RF bandwidth (12.5 kHz) to
achieve am effective 6.25kHz bandwidth.
