sudo apt-get install virtualbox-guest-additions-iso     # to enable shared folders
VBoxGuestAdditions.iso  is install in /usr/share/virtualbox/ #
#run the VM   -->Devices -->Optical Drives -->Tick VBoxGuesAdditions.iso
The CD-ROM will appear in File manager-->Select VBox Gues Additions-->AUTORUN 

Machine-->Shared Folders--> select a folder on Ubuntu host to be shared

Setting-->Shared Folders-->"+"

Re-open your VirtualBox application to load a newly installed extension

Loading OS's

File-->Preferences-->Extensions
use install Media --> en_windows_xp_professional_sp3_Nov_2013_Incl_SATA_Drivers.iso
This does not require keys to be entered.
Network --> Bridged  # tick cable connected even on wifi!!
Install Intel-Network/PRO2K3XP_32 drivers
USB --> enable 2.0
VBoxManage list usbhost
VBoxManage list usbfilters
VBoxManage showvminfo "vm-name"
